I used to hear this jazz from my own mum and some jerks at school.  Went to catholic school for 12 years, was an atheist almost the entire time (had one weird year of religiousness that still can't be adequately explained lol).  The dark doesn't have to be a bad thing, without dark there could be no light.  Sometimes parents need to be reminded of that.  You're young, you've got a lot of emotions running high, but i can guarantee you that you're quite normal and that your parents will eventually realize you are as well.  I've been goth since 1999/2000, my mum got used to my darker tendencies, to the darker art and to the clothing.  Still rockin' the gothic/metal fashions after all these years.  Don't let it worry you too much, the world is only a vampire when we let it drain us

Satanen mentioned Blutengel and indeed they are an excellent german goth band ("Save Our Souls" was one of their best english language pieces). 

If you care to give some melodic black metal a go, there is a lovely band called Gallowbraid.  They're religious parent friendly for the most part, they write music about nature and old viking lore and hail from Utah, the song i'm sending in particular is quite good.  The beginning lyrics are a bit growly, but the middle and end of the song are exquisite dark gold, their singer shows his best during those parts of the song:   www.youtube.com/watch?v=PR0Ozo…
